Amir Timur Museum
State Museum of the History of the Timurids
Amir Timur Avenue 1, Tashkent
About
The State Museum of Timurid History is located in central Tashkent on Amir Timur Avenue. Its collection covers Amir Timur and the Timurid dynasty: household items, weapons, coins, manuscripts, miniatures and models of architectural monuments. The domed interior with traditional ornamentation helps place the exhibits in a cultural context and offers a good introduction to the region’s past.
The displays offer an overview of statehood, science and culture in Central Asia during the 14th–15th centuries. Some materials relate to Samarkand and other cities where Timurid-era monuments remain. Visitors can explore the halls at a relaxed pace, which makes the museum suitable for a break between medical appointments.
