15th-century Juma mosque next to Chorsu bazaar
Hakikat Passage, Tashkent
About
Khoja Ahror Vali Mosque is one of Tashkent’s oldest functioning mosques and is known as a Friday mosque. It stands in the old city near Chorsu Bazaar and is named after the 15th-century Sufi sheikh Khoja Ahror Vali. Today it remains a quiet place with traditional architecture where visitors can observe everyday religious life in Tashkent.
The mosque is located in a busy area near Chorsu Market, so it is easy to include in a bazaar visit. Dress modestly and remove shoes before entering. During prayer times the prayer hall may be closed to non-Muslims, but the courtyard is usually open for a quiet look around.
